about

For this track, I really needed some deep punchy bass and percussion, so I went to my trusty NES and doubled my DMC kick sample with an octave drop trick that was probably popularized by Tim/Geoff Follin. I also doubled up a DMC snare with a whitenoise snare.

I started over on this track several times before I could figure out how to do Trent's "speaking" parts. I tried lots of different combinations of things, notes-as-speech, my own arrangement of notes that went along with the speech, all sorts of things, but I eventually settled on a trick extremely similar to what they do in Punch-Out to make the referee, Mario, "speak" when counting down or announcing a knockout.

Also, I'm pretty proud of the screams at the end. I couldn't think of anything else to do, they're pretty loud and hard to emulate.
